Yes, you read that right, and no, this is not an early april’s fools joke. See, VW sold 7.2 million sausages last year, while selling only 5,8 million cars.
They started making sausages in 1974, to offer their Wolfsburg production line workers a hearty snack on their breaks or after their shifts. In the beginning they only slaughtered pigs which were raised in-house, but demand outgrew that.
Today, smoked (enter lame emissions joke here) VW brand sausages, labelled “Volkswagen Originalteil” (original part) can be bought in supermarkets around Wolfsburg and are exported to 10 other countries. Alongside the VW brand ketchup, of course!
How’s that for a fall back plan?

In their defense, selling currywurst is a “can’t lose” business. And if there is an emissions problem the he who smelt it dealt it defense works just fine.

My guess is single sausages.

Typical VW. Always caught with their sausage in their hand.

People talk about VW’s currywurst like there is meth in it or something

Would you like Polo, Golf, or Passat? Or you can Phaeton-size it for just an extra 2 Euros!

I glanced real quickly at the label on those sausages and thought it said “cockberrywurst”

That isn’t exactly news. Hasn’t it been that way for a while?

they had various other goodies I saw when I went to Wolfsburg. I would share photos but they're on my other computer. these goodies included gold pastas, beetle chocolates, sausages of course and bio currywurst sauce

The problem after eating these VW sausages are the gas emissions - they were lying about how little they would be. The wife disagrees.
